FAQ

Everything you might ask before you start

01 How much do the plans cost?
There are three flat monthly plans in rand, at founder rates while we take on our first South African clients. Basic is R599 a month with a R3,999 once-off setup, Plus is R1,499 a month with a R12,999 setup, and Managed Business is from R4,999 a month with a R39,999 setup. The standard rates these are discounted from are R699, R1,799, and from R5,999 a month. The monthly figure covers the domain, email, Johannesburg hosting, and your included changes, so there are no separate bills to chase. You can see the full breakdown on the plans page.
02 What does the once-off setup fee cover?
The setup fee covers the real work of getting you live: designing and building the site, registering or transferring your .co.za domain, setting up your email, configuring hosting and SSL, and from the Plus plan up, foundational SEO and your Google Business Profile. It is charged once at the start. After that you only pay the flat monthly figure for your tier.
03 Are the plans month to month, or is there a contract?
Plans are month to month. We ask for one calendar month of notice to cancel, and there is no long lock-in. We would rather keep you because the work is good than because a contract traps you.
04 What counts as a change?
A change is any edit to your live site that we make for you: new copy, swapping photos, updating prices or opening hours, adding or editing a page, posting a special, adjusting a form, or small design tweaks. You email us what you want and we do it. Each tier includes a set amount of change time a month: 1 hour on Basic, 3 hours on Plus, and 8 hours on Managed Business.
05 What happens if I run out of change hours in a month?
Nothing breaks and your site stays exactly as it is. If you have used your included time and something else comes up, we tell you before we start, give you an estimate, and you decide whether to go ahead as extra work or hold it for next month. Change time does not roll over, so most clients spread requests across the month. If you are regularly running out, that is usually a sign the next tier up fits you better.
06 How fast do you turn changes around?
On Plus we work to a 48-hour turnaround for standard changes. On Managed Business, urgent changes are same-day and there is a 10-hour emergency SLA for anything that takes the site down. On Basic we do changes on a best-effort basis, which for small requests is usually quick. You can book a call to talk through what turnaround your business needs.
07 Who owns the website, the domain, and the content?
You do. You own your domain, your content, your brand, and the final site. We build and look after it, but it is yours. If you ever leave, we export everything and hand it over cleanly so you are never held hostage by your supplier.
08 How do you handle the .co.za domain?
We register a new .co.za for you, or transfer the one you already have, and we include it in your plan. You never deal with a registrar and you never get a renewal bill, because we manage and renew it for you for as long as you are with us. The domain stays yours throughout. There is more detail on the domain, email, and hosting page.
09 Can I keep my existing domain name?
Yes. If you already have a .co.za you want to keep, we transfer it in and manage it from there, with no change to the name your customers already know. The transfer is part of the setup, so you do not have to coordinate anything with a registrar yourself.
10 Do I get business email with my domain?
Yes, every plan includes mailboxes at your own domain (3 on Basic, 10 on Plus, 25 on Managed Business), so you can have addresses like info@yourbusiness.co.za and your name at your domain. We set them up during onboarding and they work with the email apps you already use. It is a small thing that makes a business look a lot more established than a free Gmail address.
11 Where is my site hosted, and is it backed up?
Every site runs on NVMe storage in a Johannesburg data centre with daily backups, so it loads fast for South African mobile visitors and your content is safe. Basic sites share our managed Johannesburg platform on a shared nginx setup and shared IP. Plus gets its own dedicated Johannesburg VPS with its own IP, 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB NVMe SSD, and 2 TB of monthly transfer. Managed Business gets a higher-spec dedicated VPS with its own IP, 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB NVMe SSD, and 3 TB of monthly transfer.
12 Do you monitor uptime and renew the SSL certificate?
Yes, on every plan. We monitor uptime so we usually know about a problem before you do, and SSL certificates renew automatically so the padlock in the browser never lapses. Keeping the site up, secure, and current is the part of the job you should not have to think about, which is the whole point of a managed plan.
13 Are the sites POPIA-ready, and what about contact forms?
Yes. Every plan ships with a POPIA-aligned privacy policy and cookie consent, so you are starting on the right footing under the Protection of Personal Information Act. On Plus and Managed Business we add smart contact forms that collect only what you need and handle the data responsibly. You can read more on the POPIA-ready websites page.
14 I already have a website. Can you take it over?
Yes, taking over an existing site is common. On the call we look at what you have, what is worth keeping, and what needs rebuilding, then we transfer the domain, move the site onto our Johannesburg hosting, and pick up the ongoing care. Often a tired old site is best rebuilt fresh on the new platform, and the setup fee covers that work. Book a call and we will give you an honest read on the quickest path.
15 How do I choose between Basic, Plus, and Managed Business?
Basic suits a solo tradesperson, consultant, or tiny services business that needs a sharp 1 to 3 page site and an hour of changes a month. Plus is the most popular tier and fits an established SMB with several services that wants up to 10 pages, a second language, a blog, newsletter, and 3 hours of changes a month. Managed Business is for a company whose site does real work, with bookings, payments, or a customer portal, plus 8 hours of changes and same-day urgent support. If you are unsure, we will recommend the right one, even when it is the smallest.
16 What do the Managed Business app features actually do?
Managed Business turns the site into a working tool. Bookings sync to your Google or Outlook calendar, WhatsApp Business notifications with SMS fallback keep customers informed, and payments run through PayFast, SnapScan, or card. It also includes a customer portal, lead capture with a light CRM, an AI question-and-answer assistant, and an admin dashboard, plus a monthly strategy call. It is the tier to choose when the website earns money rather than just describing the business.
17 What reporting do I get?
Every plan includes a monthly one-page report so you can see how the site is doing without wading through dashboards. Plus adds full analytics and a quarterly content and design review, and Managed Business adds a monthly strategy call where we plan the next round of improvements together. The idea is that you always know what your site is doing and what we are doing about it.
